At The Art of Dentistry we go the extra mile to save damaged teeth whenever possible. Often, with the help of a dental crown, a dental filling or a root canal, a broken tooth or a tooth with decay can be saved. But sometimes a tooth may have sustained extensive damage that requires removal. In this case, our dentist, Dr. Van Parham will extract the tooth and replace it with the best tooth replacement option for your smile; such as a dental bridge or dental implant.

Sometimes a tooth may have sustained extensive damage that requires removal. In this case, our dentist, Dr. Van Parham will extract the tooth and replace it with the best tooth replacement option for your smile, such as a dental bridge or dental implant.

To do a simple tooth extraction, Dr. Van Parham will use dental instruments known as an elevator and an extraction forceps. The elevator will loosen the tooth for easy extraction, and the extraction forceps will remove it.

Your extraction process should be painless, though you may feel some pressure. We will make sure that you are as comfortable as possible during your treatment, and will give you the post-treatment care instructions necessary to help you care for your smile as it heals.

To facilitate your healing process, you will be asked to adhere to a soft diet until you can chew without discomfort, use ice packs to help with swelling, and rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water to keep the extraction site clean.
